From dressing to dating, work to the opera, much of life keeps getting more casual. But it can be a challenge to look professional and dress for a business casual environment. Especially in the summer. When suits were the standard dress code and business casual was limited to only Fridays, the line between casual and too casual was easier to see. But those days are long gone, and confusion has quietly settled in it’s place. To keep you looking respectable, approachable, and always ready for that promotion – follow these simple tips to find your zen with office dressing.

Even casual items should fit well.

Find a good tailor.

Incorporate color and/or prints to show personality.

When in doubt throw on a jacket.

Do not skimp on the shoes.

The biggest investment pieces should be your shoes and jackets. It is always good to making sure you own at least one jacket for each season so you can look sharp no matter the weather. And don’t forget about trying out some knits. They come in a multitude of weights and textures, are a great layering piece and in the summer can look just as good as a jacket. Respect to Mister Rogers. An Urban Professional is all about personality, but also dresses for the position they want. This is the man who wants to show he is a boss that has style, but doesn’t need to be dressed in a suit to achieve it. Below is a perfect look for a casual day in the office, or you can pair with pieces that already live in your closet!
