]]> Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of meeting Martha Davis, a local shoe designer and try on/play with/covet all her delicious little gems from her 2010 Spring and Fall lines.   Martha spent years in industrial design, and that understanding of foundation and support is felt when you wear one of her shoes.  The cylindrical heel that she’s currently using in her lines had me wondering if I would be teetering slightly as I walked.   But as I slipped on her buttery open-toed bootie my worries were voided.   Not only could I slip this bootie on (no zippers required), but my foot was completely supported, and they were even super comfortable!   Her designs are made in the same factory in Italy that Chloe and Chanel footwear is produced, so you know the leather is going to be the gold standard.  But these are no sitting shoes, they are made for us pavement pounding urban dwellers.  Gorgeous, luxe footwear that I don’t have to tote around in my purse and put on after I get somewhere??? Consider me converted!!

Also on the list titled “To Purchase Once I can pay my Rent” is Harputs newest design, amusingly nicknamed ‘the diaper.’   I don’t know if that’s actually what it’s called, but Martha is wearing it in the photo below with a short tuxedo jacket over it- so unfortunately, you can’t see it that well.   But it is super flattering!  I had it on most of the night over my clothes as kind of a dress.  One reason I love going into Harputs is that they dress you up as soon as you walk in.  (Yes please!)  Anything Harputs designs is a trans-formative piece, that you can wear at least a few different ways.  Their newest piece can be worn as a skirt, a dress, and a jumpsuit – for certain…I think.  And can be casual or formal, but always dramatic yet easy.   Love it!  Check out their swacket too!! That’s a great piece!
