While men’s fashion is most commonly reduced to t-shirt and jeans or a suit with a colorful tie, these guys proved that men can be just as thoughtful as the women when dressing. And more importantly their fashion choices were playful and an extension of their personality. This year was big for men as their street looks were equal to red carpet looks on my best dressed list. So after long days of staring at men online, I’m giving these gents a round of applause.

Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Gandy and Usher showed up on red carpets across the globe showcasing men’s iconic style with various flairs. From maroon suits to a velvet jacket, even the most classic style can be unexpectedly unique when a pop of color or varying texture. Daniel Craig and Ryan Reynolds displayed effortless layering that all men should take notes on. And snaps to Matt Bomer for knowing how to work a hat, but my pick goes to Bradley Cooper for best dressed man of 2014. Because all year he has shown us that both on and off screen he is one stylish hunk, and this leather jacket sure does him justice.

While it is quite difficult to have an entire year devoted to flawless fashion choices these top ten ladies proved they could raise the bar. This year the fashion world was turned on its head as room was made for fresh faces to enter the “Best Dressed” sphere. Models such as Kendall Jenner and Georgia May Jagger made it a point to show us that their effortless and unique style does not stop when they leave the runway. Brits Kate Middleton and Poppy Delevingne continued to represent the monarchy without a hitch. Lupita Nyong’o perfected a classic elegance on and off the red carpet, and Diane Kruger reminds us that the old adage “better with age” is not too far off.

While it was a tough call, Emma Stone had a fantastic year, and is my top pick for best dressed in 2014. Bright colors and darling silhouettes, Stone was confident and consistent all year. While it was difficult to choose one style to represent her stellar year, her look at the Amazing Spiderman was definitely the most darling of all. From her perfectly coiffed curls to the gold and red embellishments from her blouse to the shoes – we could not imagine a more put together gal than Emma Stone to represent the best dressed woman of 2014.

In no particular order, here are some of the women that really stood out for 2013. Some are expected. Gwen Stefani, Carine Roitfeld, and SJP are always perfection in unexpected ways. Others are just refreshingly consistent. Rooney Mara has nailed edgy while keeping the looks fresh. Miranda Kerr doesn’t step out of her front door in NYC without a simple, polished look. Nicole Richie continues to stun in her unfussy bohemian-inspired ensembles. Kerry Washington and Jennifer Lawrence love updated silhouettes with a romantic lean.

But 2013 was definitely the year of Beyoncé. Beginning her year with her Ms. Carter tour and finishing off with an incredible surprise album, she has stylistically really come into herself in the most beautiful way. There were so many amazing looks to choose from for Beyoncé in 2013, but I love this casual Instagram of her from this past summer. Just drinking some juice, in an outfit anyone could afford and looking about 15 years old without make-up, you just have to love Queen Bey!
