I discovered Lover Cosmetics through a friend and I am thrilled to have learned about this female-founded, clean-beauty line. After training at the prestigious Neo Christian Chauveau in Paris, founder Ashley Maurin Rodden started the line in 2006 with a goal to simplify cosmetics and even a product-loving gal can appreciate this!
Lover Cosmetics is fully sourced in the U.S. but is 95% E.U. compliant, which is amazing since the E.U. has much stricter rules than the U.S. about what chemicals can be used in consumer products.
Lover Cosmetics wants to provide a natural everyday makeup that makes you look your best in almost no time. Rodden says, “It should take you no more than five minutes to do your full face makeup.” And to this end, she’s created a Five-Step Palette ($32) to teach women how to simplify their makeup routine. Customizable to each client, it offers a magnetic/interchangeable palette for a full-face routine – designed for easy mornings, travel, and touch ups. Everything you need in one place.
After the pandemic started, she also created makeup sanitizing products: 50-pack individually-packed cosmetic sanitizer wipes ($12), sanitizer mist ($20), and conditioning brush cleaner ($20). The makeup sanitizing spray kills viruses and is super easy to use. You simply spray on powders, eyeshadows, pressed powders – wait 15 seconds and you’re good to go.
So far, I have a few favorites. The Vitamin C lip tint ($30) feels like my lips just got a full daily intake of water. It goes on smoothly, deeply conditions, and gives a nice sheen alone, but I usually apply lipstick over it. Vitamins C is a powerful antioxidant that encourages collagen production so your lips look naturally fuller- no fillers required thank you very much.
The waterproof gel lip liner ($18) glides like a dream, does not need to be sharpened, and is long-wearing without drying. All of the lip liners prevent feathering and there is even an invisible one so you can wear any lip color you want. Thoughtful.
The gel eye liner ($20) also glides on smoothly and the formula is a little creamy at first so you can smudge it around if you want to create a softer look before it sets.
